ARRC joins industry experts at waste summit
Members of the ARRC team recently joined waste industry leaders from around Australia, as well as Swedish recycling expert, Joakim Brodahl, for the Future Waste Resources Symposium.
Held in Brisbane, the Waste Recycling Industry Association Queensland (WRIQ) event provides an all-important forum for waste industry expertise to collaborate and explore approaches to increase recycling rates.
ARRC’s Head of Assets Sarah Collins and Head of Community and Reputation Greer Quinn both featured on the symposium program.
As part of the Where to next for Queensland’s waste and recycling sector session, Sarah provided attendees with more detail about the benefits of ARRC’s precinct model – where different types of recycling facilities will be located in close proximity to each other.
“One of the precinct’s goals is to find solutions to improve overall resource recovery in existing technologies by allowing processes to co-locate and feed each other,” Sarah said.
“It will also allow ARRC to investigate regional solutions for problematic or targeted waste where the economics do not support local solutions.”
The Transparency, trust and leadership session provided Greer an opportunity to share details on ARRC’s ongoing work to establish and maintain a relationship of trust with its broad range of stakeholders.
“Maintaining our social licence to operate isn’t a one-off tick-a-box exercise,” Greer said.
“It’s something you need to earn every day – that’s exactly what we’re striving to achieve at ARRC.”
