ARRC precinct draws industry attention

 Queensland’s waste and recycling leaders are turning their attention to the future of resource recovery on the Gold Coast.

The Advanced Resource Recovery Centre Gold Coast – or ARRC – welcomed Alison Price, Chief Executive Officer of the Waste Recycling Industry Association Queensland (WRIQ), to its future precinct site at Stapylton.

The visit comes ahead of Waste Recycling Industry Association (QLD) inc (WRIQ)‘s Future Waste Resources Symposium, taking place in Brisbane next week (18-19 March), where ARRC Gold Coast team members will join councils, industry leaders and interstate delegates to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping Queensland’s waste and recycling sector.

Alison toured the proposed ARRC site at Stapylton to gain a firsthand look at the plans for the precinct.

“It was great to actually walk the site with the ARRC team – it’s fascinating to see what the plans are for this location,” Alison said.

“The scale and ambition of the ARRC project is significant for the state’s circular economy transition.

“It’s a strategic location and would be well suited to a waste-to-energy facility, as well as the other resource recovery plans ARRC has in mind that have the potential to support the broader South East Queensland region.”

As part of the Future Waste Resources Symposium, representatives from councils and industry will be invited to tour the ARRC Organics facility, located nearby in Yatala.

Acquired by the City of Gold Coast late last year, ARRC Organics is the first operational component of ARRC Gold Coast and is already processing organic waste from the Gold Coast and surrounds.
