EPBC public consultation period now closed

The public consultation period for our project’s assessment under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act closed at 5pm, Friday 17 July 2026.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to review the material and make a submission.

This marks another significant step in the environmental approvals process for one of Australia’s most advanced integrated waste and resource recovery precincts.

How we shared information

Consultation ran from Monday 6 July to Friday 17 July 2026.

During that time, we shared information about the process and how to make a submission through public notices in newspapers, the ARRC website and this Community Space page. In addition, we displayed hard copies of the EPBC referral documentation at the Ormeau Community Centre.

The material available for review represents years of work by our team and technical specialists – including comprehensive studies covering biodiversity, ecology, air quality, traffic, noise and environmental management.

What happens next

We will now review all comments received. Within 10 business days, we will publish our responses – along with any updated documentation and a plain-language summary of what changed – right here on this page.

The matter then goes to the Minister for Environment and Water, who has up to 40 business days to make a decision.
