ARRC Energy will play an all-important role in converting residual waste that can’t be recycled or recovered into fuel to generate electricity, while also enabling the recovery of valuable materials from the process itself.
Metals such as steel and aluminium can be extracted and returned to manufacturing supply chains.
The remaining ash can be processed into secondary materials for beneficial reuse in construction, including road base and aggregates (subject to regulatory approvals), supporting a more circular approach to resource use.
Located within our main Stapylton precinct, ARRC Energy’s dedicated new residual waste-to-energy facility will turn the contents of your red bin into enough energy to power up to 80,000 homes.

Rather than competing with recycling, waste-to-energy provides the Gold Coast with a tried-and-tested solution for handling non-recyclable waste – thereby advancing our circular economy objectives.
Scheduled to commence operations in 2032, ARRC Energy’s residual waste-to-energy facility will help power the City’s operations as well as reduce landfill and emissions through safe and sustainable energy recovery. An international procurement process was recently launched to identify experienced partners to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the facility.
