While ARRC’s Stapylton precinct is isolated from the region’s known koala populations, we undertook a detailed ecological study across four years to confirm it is not used as habitat. During that time, no koala sightings, scats or claw markings were recorded.

To support local wildlife, we are undertaking tree planting across multiple sites within a recognised biodiversity corridor linked to habitat for the region’s wildlife. This includes a 165-hectare site along the Pimpama River, approximately 10 kilometres from the precinct.

These sites have been selected to strengthen habitat connectivity in areas where koalas and other native species are known to occur. The planting will deliver high-quality, connected habitat and more than offset the vegetation required to be cleared for construction.
